Noun: Mincemeat is a mixture of currants, raisins, sugar, apples, spices, candied citrus peel, suet, and sometimes meat, usually used as pie filling.

While English recipes from as early as the 15th century for mincemeat always included meat, sometimes mincemeat doesn’t contain any meat at all.
