That would be a supplement. Whole foods like dark leafy greens, sardines, nuts, seeds, and whole grains naturally contain calcium. The only reason companies use claims like “fortified” and “enriched” is a sale tactic and because by law food companies have to add B vitamins back to foods that they heavily process.

i have osteoporosis and I am told to take 600 mg of calcium in a supplement and get the rest from food! If i am getting calcium from a fortified cashew milk (SILK brand) would this count as a supplement or ‘food’?
